New Eco-playground added to the Holy Spirit School

Tires and tree stumps don’t exactly have a reputation for being fun.

But that’s changed thanks to a new eco-playground added to the Holy Spirit School yard here in Cambridge. The playground, sponsored in part by Armoured Touch and our very own Matt Gerth, features obstacles and places for students to explore that were made using repurposed truck and tractor tires, and old tree stumps.

We were honoured to help create an outdoor kitchen play area where students can develop their curiosity and their green thumbs. The space has sinks, workstations, and galvanized troughs used as raised garden beds to grow vegetables. The students have already aced growing tomatoes and we can’t wait to see what they cook up with their harvest.

New trees were also planted to add greenery and shade to the school yard and the Holy Spirit natural playground. There will be plenty of other chances for students to learn about their natural environment in an amphitheatre that was added to the school yard, too.

It kind of makes us all wish were kids again.
